As the Storyteller
TV Series —
AMERICAN ATHENA
This is a very small reflection of my nine year odyssey exploring the unstoppable force of nature that was the woman known as Jackie Cochran. This game changing adventure culminated in the creation of a 3 season, 39 episode Limited TV Series on her remarkable life, titled American Athena. The show covers a theatrical wingspan of over 60 historical years ranging from the days of the Great Depression, to World War II, to politics and the Space Race. Jackie was ahead of her times, a true visionary, and a wonderful, bold and complicated human being. Amongst her many unprecedented feats, accomplishments and wild antics, Jackie was the first woman to break through the sound barrier in a jet plane.
This life affirming experience continues to transform my own personal journey and the reclamation of all that is possible in my life, for through studying Jackie I was guided to study aeronautics, quantum physics, flow dynamics, and, ultimately the science and healing properties of sound.
Some would say Jackie helped me break through my own sound barrier, and perhaps that is true. However, more importantly, my experience also taught me that it is not about breaking, it is about transmuting and transcending to a higher state of consciousness.
This is our journey from fight to flight. Our soul’s sonic boom.

As The Poet
HUMANITY RISE
Humanity Rise came to me just as the world went into lockdown in March of 2020. It flowed in like a piece of music wafting gently through my spirit. A love letter to humanity. I felt something very special had been given to me and I trusted it would be shared when the time was right and that I would be guided as to when and where.
The birthing moment presented itself in the summer of 2021 when I was asked by Nora Maccoby, art futurist and award-winning painter, to help open an exhibit she was headlining with Uniting Us, a non-profit for veterans, at the Military Women’s Memorial located at the entrance of Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC. It was an inspiring exhibit that showed the power of art to help transform trauma and conflict.
In our invocation to the divine feminine, I spoke to the wars we fight and struggle with within, the inner terrain often our greatest battle field. Where many of us go to die, myself included, not able to recover from the pain and trauma. Holding back our lives for fear of the next round, the next hit, the next harm. The piece is a call to action for all of us. Especially during these times of such seismic challenges on the planet.
May we all do the work necessary to heal the wars that lie within, so that peace, harmony and true freedom will one day be the victors throughout. May we have the courage to heal and forgive.
LOVE
is
The GREATEST force multiplier
It is the healer
The placebo
The Jedi
And, THE GREAT UNIFIER.
Fear is merely a messenger of what we must master in order to be free.
The light will come out of the dark, I promise you,
but we must RISE UP and FACE IT
for that is the divine alchemy.
WHEN ROBIN WILLIAMS CAME TO ME
This spoken word piece is dedicated to all those who long for their soul’s truest sound. May it uplift and remind you of your own sacred light that shines within.
Stand
Open handed, open hearted
and just be
Be that love
Be that instrument God designed you to be
to honor all of humanity - not just you, and not just me
SING YOUR SOUL’S LOVE SONG IN ITS GREATEST KEY
Play your notes, PLAY YOUR NOTES
With such beauty, joy
and WONDROUS dignity
A harmonic requiem for the entire celestial body
A timeless symphony
Open your heart and let us see
Let us see your great possibility!

NEW YORK LOVE STORY
PRODUCER
As a five year love relationship was ending, I was asked to discover the world of Karsten Steiger and help him with his project, New York Love Story. So I took my heart to the heights of New York, climbing and playing and feeling the air on some of the highest rooftops of the Big Apple. I was in continual awe as I watched Karsten film and capture some of the greatest sunsets and sunrises, with his legs nonchalantly dangling off of some of the highest buildings in New York.
From a heightened perspective, I was falling back in love with my own New York Love Story and reflecting on all that this great city had given me.
“I have worked with JP on a couple of my projects. She helped me produce a collaboration I had with John Varvatos. I loved her energy and what she brings to the table. One of my most memorable adventures we had together was when I photographed the window washing rigg at 28 Liberty street.”
— Karsten Steiger, New York Love Story Creator + Photographer

I had the great honor of working on and assisting in this beautiful project honoring the sacredness of water. Women from all around came together to support the visual creation of this water blessing, led by three Grandma elders. The song is an Algonquin Water Song that expresses loving gratitude for the water and raises the consciousness and connection of women with Mother Nature’s greatest gift.
“We sing this song like a lullaby. The song means the water is the life's blood of our mother the earth. Water is the life's blood of our own bodies” — Grandma Nancy Andry, Algonquin Elder

ACTING
It is challenging to synthesize years of dedication and commitment to this craft which started when I was a young child. At a young age my creativity was expressed through dance, art, music, poetry and having the opportunity to perform with a touring children’s theater company. When I was in junior high my dad gave me acting classes at the renowned Shakespeare Theater in Washington, DC. where I was thrown into an adult class with many working professionals, and, needless to say, I was smitten.
I continued to study at the Shakespeare Theatre and years later did their summer conservatory program. I have had the privilege of working regionally at many renowned theaters such as Arena Stage, Signature Theatre and The Kennedy Center. I also have been in a variety of commercials, print campaigns, voiceovers and film projects. I was a founding company member of Factory 449, a former Helen Hayes award-winning multimedia theatre that pushed the boundaries of storytelling in Washington, DC.
Amongst my highlights, my most impactful would be having the great fortune of studying and working with phenomenal teachers such as Catherine Weidner at the Shakespeare Theatre and Niki Flacks in New York City and London’s Actors Centre. In 2015, Niki featured me in her book ‘ACTING WITH PASSION’, which shares her revolutionary approach to acting using neuroscience and somatics to aliven the performer's instrument. These two women enriched my life immensely and continue to be a source of inspiration on my creative path.
My love of the theatre along with the great playwrights, lyricists and composers continue to whisper and weave into my artistry. Theatre was my haven, my refuge, where I could both play and have the opportunity to explore the ongoing beauty and struggle of the human heart.
Art, of all forms, when well crafted, can be the greatest sanctuary. It was and continues to be for me.
“Jennifer is full of positive energy and fire, and has tremendous intelligence, talent and focus. As an artist she isn’t afraid to take risks, meets challenges head on, and relishes every discovery.”
— Catherine Weidner, Former Chair, Department of Theatre Arts, Ithaca College, Former Acting Head of The Shakespeare Theatre Conservatory
“And Jennifer Phillips is positively BRILLIANT as Cindy in Jordan Beswick’s, The F Word…at first, a potent intensity and later, a deep and abiding warmth. It’s a WONDERFUL complex performance.”
